And so our Christmas Advent reading and waiting has drawn to a close . . .
that is really a beginning.
A starting place
A new year

Looking back on this late December, I am reflecting on the diversity of celebrations I attended:
A funeral
A wedding
A baptism
An anniversary
All earthly events that commemorate heavenly realities.

They were lovely in their own way, of course, and very real. But, they are truly like Advent, pointing forward . . .

To temporal ends and eternal beginnings
To the arrival of the Bridegroom for His treasured, perfected Bride
To the symbol of holiness and the promise of redemption
To the joy of intimacy everlasting

Aren’t we always then in the Advent season?

Advent –
Anticipatory waiting and
Active preparing

Isn’t this the real stuff of faith, hope, and love?
